Description

We are excited to introduce the new and improved Touring Tent, now available in both 4m and 4.5m diameters and equipped for stove-ready hot tenting. This versatile Bell Tent is the perfect blend of rugged durability and reduced overall weight – ideal for most camping requirements.

Durable and Effortless Camping

Our Touring Bell Tent combines stunning design with exceptional durability, simplifying the camping experience. Over the years, we have perfected its design to provide ample space, minimal setup, unmatched durability, and refined aesthetics.

Due to its size and weight, this is the Bell Tent we recommend for general camping purposes – the optimum tent for durability and practicality. Depending on which size you choose the Touring Tent will comfortably sleep up to 8 people. See our size guide here.

Built for the Toughest Conditions

Constructed from ultra-durable 285 GSM CottonGuard™ canvas, the Touring Tent is engineered to withstand Australia’s harshest conditions. CottonGuard™ is an 80/20 cotton-poly blend that boasts twice the tensile strength of pure cotton, offering superior weather resistance and extended durability. This blend ensures exceptional performance in stormy weather and high-tension scenarios while remaining breathable to prevent condensation.

Moreover, CottonGuard™ is eco-friendly and designed to minimise environmental impact while delivering a reliable and long-lasting shelter. It strikes the ideal balance between strength, durability, and comfort. After extensive testing with various canvas types, we believe this canvas provides the best solution for general-purpose camping.

Breathable and Bug-Free

The tent features four windows, doors, and vents with mosquito-proof mesh layers. A double-wall mesh layer allows you to roll up the outer wall, exposing a second wall made entirely of mosquito netting. The mesh acts as a barrier, ensuring a breeze without bugs. The zip-in/zip-out groundsheet aids in cleaning and ventilation.

Ready for ‘Hot Tenting’

Homecamp pioneered ‘Hot Tenting’ in Australia. The range of Homecamp Touring Bell Tents come Hot Tent ready with a section of the tent made from fireproof material with an inbuilt Stove Jack – a port designed to accommodate a stovepipe safely. It allows for the passage of a stovepipe through the tent fabric without risking damage from heat or fire and has a Velcro flap to cover when not in use. For Hot-Tenting with a Homecamp 4m or 4.5m Touring Tent we recommend a Small or Medium size from our Winnerwell range of stoves. The 4.5m Touring Tent can accomodate the large sized stove if necessary but we think the medium is sufficient for the size of the tent – be sure to include the necessary accessories for your stove. For stove use, we recommend reading this post and our FAQ here.

Weather-proof Groundsheet

Our groundsheet, made from thermally welded rip-stop PVC, is impervious to water. The ‘bathtub style’ floor rises over 10 cm high, ensuring dryness even in a minor flood scenario. Heavy-duty zips allow floor removal for transport, storage, cleaning, or ventilation.

Robust Hardware

The tent’s heavy-duty steel poles have internal spring-loaded wires for easy assembly. The centre pole has a welded lanyard ring for attaching an inner tent or chandelier. Two extra large storage pockets with three compartments each provide easy access to valuables.

Convenient and Accessible

A zip entry point at the back of the tent accommodates electrical cords, ensuring rain and bug protection. The oversized carry bag, equipped with robust webbing, buckles, and compression straps, makes packing straightforward and efficient. Reflective paracord guy ropes, custom brass zips, extra-large stainless steel pegs, and twisted steel ‘rebar’ style pegs ensure reliability in wild places.

Additional accessories include:

  • Footprint Tarp – Recommended for rough camping as saves cleaning the tent floor.
  • Bell Tent Cover – Recommended for an extended setup.
  • Shade Tarp – Extend your footprint and create a shelter from the sun and rain.
  • Wing Awning – New designed awning – extends your footprint and creates a shelter from the sun and rain.
  • Inner Tent – Create a cozy internal room away from kids and mess.

A note on materials

When choosing a tent, there are various factors to weigh. While size and weight are important, the choice of materials is equally essential. Understanding the differences between cotton-based canvas and synthetic materials is key. The trade-offs encompass weight, strength, maintenance (i.e. propensity for mould, sun damage etc), and breathability (condensation).
