Description

The Lodge is our take on those classic 60s–70s cabin tents – big straight walls, generous headroom and a proper front verandah – rebuilt with modern materials, smarter detailing and a touch of Homecamp magic. It’s designed as a base you can grow into over time: start with the main Lodge, then add sleeping and living modules as your crew (and your gear) expands.

At the centre of the system is the main Lodge Tent, a stand-up canvas room with a 4.0m x 2.6m footprint, 1.6m straight walls and a 2.15m apex height. At the front you step through a large round double door – very hobbit-house!! – which gives the Lodge its signature look. Both sides of the main room have their own circular doors, each with separate mesh and canvas layers, so you can open the tent right up, control airflow from multiple directions and still keep the bugs out. Two large side windows, again with independent mesh and canvas panels, flood the interior with light when you want it and black out neatly when you don’t.

Out front, the built-in awning turns the Lodge into a true camp hub. It runs 2.2m out from the tent and 2.8m across, with 1.6m side height and a 2.15m apex, so you can comfortably stand, cook and lounge underneath. This is your shaded living room in summer and your dry entry in wet weather – a place for chairs, tables, kids, dogs and everything else that never really belongs inside the sleeping space.

For families and longer trips, you can zip in the Rear Annex (sold separately), which extends the footprint by another 2.8m x 2.0m with matching 1.6m walls and 2.15m apex height. It creates a dedicated sleeping wing for kids or guests while you keep the front room as your retreat. From the front, you look through the round doorway into a second room at the back – a proper two-room lodge, not just a bigger tent.

You can also add the Mesh Annex (sold separately), which connects to the front awning to form a fully enclosed screen house. It has a zip-door entrance at the front and a second zip door straight into the tent itself, so you can move between spaces without letting the bugs in. The Mesh Annex gives you a bug-free outdoor room where you can cook, eat, play cards or just enjoy a cold drink without flies and mozzies. On hot, still evenings it’s the best seat in camp; when the weather turns, it adds sheltered space without having to hide yourself away inside.

For extra privacy and smarter layouts, you can add the Lodge Room Divider (sold separately). Made from the same 285gsm canvas as the tent, it attaches to the internal poles with simple Velcro tabs, creating two distinct rooms. A trailing canvas skirt at the base helps block draughts and light. In the centre there’s a full-height zip door with both mesh and canvas layers, plus a matching canvas-and-mesh window, so you can control airflow and privacy between the two rooms just like you do with the outer walls. The divider also includes a handy storage pocket and a carabiner key fob to keep phones, headtorches and keys off the floor and easy to find. There’s space for 2–3 single mattresses on one side and a queen or king mattress on the other, turning the Main Lodge into a genuinely functional two-room tent.

All Lodge components share the same hard-wearing materials. The Main Lodge, Rear Annex and room divider are cut from a premium 285gsm 80/20 polycotton canvas with an inbuilt mould-resistant treatment – tough enough for serious seasons in the field, breathable enough to stay comfortable across a wide range of conditions. Doors, windows and annex panels use a 120gsm insect-proof mesh that keeps the bugs out while still allowing plenty of airflow. Underfoot, a heavy-duty vinyl bathtub floor wraps up the sides of the tent to help prevent water ingress, even in driving rain or minor flooding. Paired with the external frame system – which runs along the outside walls of the tent in reinforced canvas sleeves – the Lodge is ultra-sturdy and, when set up correctly and well anchored, will cope with all sorts of conditions. No canvas tent is completely waterproof forever, but we use high-grade proofing and anti-mould treatments so that, with correct pitching and care, the Lodge will look after you through many long, wet seasons.

Despite its size, the Main Lodge packs down into a purposely oversized and struggle-free carry bag. That means far less wrestling on pack-up day – all poles and extras pack down into their own convenient carry bag making handling a breeze and ready for the next trip.

Put it all together and the Homecamp Lodge is a modular canvas camp that can be as simple or as expansive as you like: a solid 4.0m x 2.6m stand-up lodge for couples, a two-three room family set-up with the Room Divider and Rear Annex, and a full canvas basecamp when you add the Mesh Annex and turn the awning into a screened outdoor living room.
