How to brew the perfect Aeropress coffee
You'll need:
200g water
Aeropress with filters
Coffee grinder
Digital scales
Fresh coffee beans
Step One
Measure and grind 15g of coffee – grind the coffee as fine as table salt/course sand. Bring at least half a litre of fresh water to the boil.
Step Two
Use the hot water to preheat the brewer and rinse the filter. This gets rid of any paper flavours and heats everything up. Warm up your cup with the hot water while you’re at it.
Step Three
Discard water from the cup. Affix basket to the bottom of the Aeropress chamber, then place onto cup. Add ground coffee to the bottom of the chamber. Place the entire set-up, with the cup beneath, on your scales and tare to zero.
Step Four
Add 200g of boiling water to the ground coffee and start your timer. Give the brew a good stir. Carefully place the plunger on top of the brew chamber and pull up slightly to create a pressure seal. Don’t plunge just yet!
Step Five
After 2 minutes, gently and slowly press the plunger down until the coffee brew is completely pushed through the paper filter.
