Description

This is a pre-order product – please see the information here.

A true 3-4 person tent our Tipi/Laavu style canvas tent is perfect for a couple with plenty of room left for gear and a wood fire stove or for up to 4 people on single mattresses and less gear.

Best of both worlds canvas

We have used a specially woven canvas that although relatively lightweight (compared to our Classic line), is extremely robust. This canvas is naturally UV, mildew and water resistant.  We have also double-stitched the seams, gussets, and all stress points for extra durability.

Ezy Pitch system

The Tipi Tent incorporates our Ezy Pitch system which means your tent can be set up in 10 minutes or less. Simply peg in the groundsheet and walk in the centre pole, attach the adjustable webbing loops to the pegs, pull the webbing tight and you are set to go. There are extra guy ropes that can be pegged down if you are expecting stormy weather but these are usually not necessary.

Two is better than one

The Tipi tent has two doors opposite each other, both with separate mesh screens which can be zipped into place to keep bugs out and the breeze flowing. The canvas outer doors can be unzipped from top-down or bottom-up so that it’s possible to unzip sections of the door to let in light and ventilate the tent, but still maintain privacy. The door zips are protected by a storm flap.

Keep the breeze flowing

Having two doors means that you can take advantage of a cross breeze and the tent has the ultimate ventilated system with different configurations – i.e. one door open, the other door half open to let the airflow. The doors can be extended and open out across two sections and once rolled up it is held neatly in place by a loop and toggle system. The floor can be unzipped to let even more airflow through the tent.

Zip-off groundsheet

We use a 500 GSM ripstop PVC groundsheet that is completely waterproof and seam-sealed to create a bathtub-type floor that will serve you well in wet conditions. As the floor can be unzipped from the canvas walls, it’s possible to just use the outer shell as a shade structure (could make a great beach shelter) and leave the floor at home. This is also a handy feature to make cleaning your floor easy.

Built to hot tent

Our canvas is a flame-resistant fabric and certified by OEKO-TEX® and EU Ecolabel. With the right precautions and configuration (doors opened and extended), this tent is suitable for a hot tent set up – we recommend a medium-sized Winnerwell stove for this sized tent.

Parts matter

We use hard anodized aluminium poles, they are lightweight but incredibly durable. We use custom-made reflective 440 Paracord guy rope with easy-to-use metal tensioners that will not break  The tent comes with a set of heavy-duty twisted ‘rebar’ style stakes that do not bend if they encounter a rock. We use stainless steel D rings for the groundsheet pegs and signature, custom-made Homecamp plastic buckles and toggles. Our mosquito mesh is heavy-duty. We have designed oversized, fit-for-purpose canvas bags for your tent, pegs and poles. There is an internal pocket for safe storage of valuables such as car keys and wallet.

We do all of this because we dislike seeing products break and the wasteful ‘return and replace’ cycle of inferior products that creates landfills. Like the rest of our range, this tent is built to last.

Outstanding…. Except one thing!

Okay. We’ve owned a Homecamp Tipi for about three years now, so this is a long term review. We’ve used it for several multi-day beach camps around Tassie. It’s all positive except one thing, but I’ll get to that later. Firstly, let’s run down what’s to love. It’s exceptionally well made. The materials, stitching, zips, fittings and parts are all first rate. It’s easy to set up and pack down. One pole. That’s it. Lots of pegs, but it’s all so self explanatory and simple so lots of pegs hardly matters as no time is wasted feeding multiple poles through sleeves or trying to figure it all out. It’s bomb proof. I wouldn’t be surprised if it withstood 150km winds all guyed out. It’s completely waterproof too. We’ve slept soundly and worry free through torrential storms with 100km gusts. It’s cleverly conceived. The dual doors, vents, flyscreens, standing room, interior pockets, attachment points and windows make it extremely livable. The light blocking dark green canvas is a godsend if you want to sleep in past first light or have children who need to nap through the day. It’s a balm for the eyes. In this day and age of shouty colours and the dominance of toxic masculinity branding for outdoor gear, this tent is beautiful in the landscape.

Now for the one drawback. It doesn’t have a dedicated awning or complimentary fly or tarp protected outdoor living and dry entry and exit. Yet. Homecamp! Herein lies the challenge. I have some sound ideas. Get in touch if you’re up for developing a solution.

All in all, a stellar choice for car camping, festivals, and even for glamping operations. Would highly recommend.

Hi Philip, Thanks for taking the time to review the Tipi - it's appreciated to get feedback from customers. Apologies for the slow response - I was waiting to confirm our newly designed awning which took a while to prototype. If you are interested, we are writing a special newsletter on the Tipi and will feature the awning there along with your review as its so thorough. Or you are welcome to email us [email protected] and we can share there. Thanks again! Doron & HC

awesome tipi for festivals and camping

This is the second tent I have bought from Homecamp but I have to say this is now my favourite camping tent. Yes, it's for car camping but it's not too heavy and packs down small. Very easy to set up and a great size tent for the two of us (easily get another person or couple of kids in there). We took it to a couple of festivals this year. you can stand up in it so its easy to get dressed and because the canvas is quite dark you don't wake up with the sun which is a huge bonus.

Hey Mitzi, we are glad you are happy with the Tipi and thank you so much for the review. H.C.

Very happy with the quality of products.
Unfortunately we have not yet had the chance to test-run them.
I look forward to reviewing same as soon as we get the time to go camping.

Plenty of space.

It’s an extension of my van when I go camping giving me plenty of space to get dressed and spread out. The Tipi is manageable by one person if setting up on your own and I can physically lift it.

The perfect small tent, manageable and simple to erect. The tent was used for the first time on 29th September, my daughter, three children and me all slept well.
I am missing one guy rope however, could you send me one please.

The best Homecamp tent yet!

This is the third Homecamp tent the family has purchased - an original 4m Flinders in sand for our son, an Under Sky Mesh 4m with blue floor for our daughter, and now for just the two of us, a 3.5m Tipi in sand. The Tipi is well designed, well made and compact - making it the best yet! And that’s saying a lot.
Being a sailor, my only other comment would be to improve the knots which are only loosely formed by the manufacturer. They need to be a real bowline attaching each guy rope to the tent, and a figure-of-eight knot at the end of each guy rope - both to be tightly formed.

Amazing investment.

One of the best purchases I’ve made. It’s an investment.

Tipi review

So firstly I bought a 5 metre Bell tent from you. I love my Bell tent through and through it's amazing. the bell tent would have been amazing in the green colour as it becomes quite light in the mornings. Recently I purchased the TiPi from you. the tipi is not too heavy it is dark upon wake up and we love it!
I'm excited to try my fireplace in the tipi.

Tipi tent

I’m a huge fan of the products homecamp bring to us and was excited to have the tipi get added to that list. I have a bell tent from this range also but I’ve always had a thing for tipis. We used it for the first time over Xmas for a few days on French Island and again in Myrtleford. Super easy to put up and she’s a true beauty.. comes with the usual exceptional stamp of good quality these guys put into their products. Love that the bag design has changed to allow easier packup when you’re heading home.

Hey Sista, thanks for the review and positive feedback - very glad you are happy with the Tipi. Team HC.

Excellent

We were so excited to receive our bundle. The service was good in receiving the package. Set up is so simple and the materials are so durable. Everything about it has been so well thought out. Installing the flashing kit was simple however it would ease my mind if some way to seal the cut canvas was included.
