After years of development, extensive testing, and numerous prototypes, we’re excited to introduce the Solo View — a tent that offers a brilliant alternative to the bulky and often claustrophobic modern swag. The Solo View strikes the perfect balance between the simplicity of a classic Australian swag and the versatility of a traditional tent.
The Solo View combines the best aspects of a tent with the simplicity of a classic Australian swag. Like a swag, it can be set up in minutes, providing a cosy yet spacious weatherproof sleeping area that’s perfect for a solo camper but roomy enough for two. At over 3 metres long, it offers storage space at both ends and plenty of room to sit up comfortably inside.
The Solo’s full-width door allows for easy access in and out. Best of all, with the included poles, the door can be quickly converted into an awning, creating a spacious, shaded indoor/outdoor area perfect for relaxing, cooking, or taking shelter from the elements. This feature extends the tent’s footprint, providing far more usable space than a traditional swag. The door can also be rolled up to reveal a separate mesh screen for bug protection, and both doors can be secured open for stargazing.
We love how the awning adds a sense of openness, overcoming the claustrophobic feel of some swags. It’s a pleasure to have the awning set up overnight, allowing plenty of fresh air to circulate, and if the weather turns, you can easily zip it up to keep the rain out.
Many modern swags are made from PU-coated canvas, which, in our opinion, doesn’t breathe well and adds unnecessary weight. The Solo takes a more traditional approach, crafted from our ultra-durable 285 GSM canvas, which is relatively lightweight, breathes well, and effectively prevents condensation. We’ve also included extra-large, mesh-protected air vents at each end to further improve airflow.
The thick vinyl floor is raised 10 cm off the ground, offering excellent protection against rough terrain and pooling water. The Solo comes with two vertical poles, a ridge pole, and two extendable poles, all made from lightweight yet strong hard-anodised aluminium. Having the ridge pole creates a very stable shelter which will serve you well in inclement weather.
Inside, you’ll find a large internal pocket, a hanging pocket for extra storage, and a convenient lantern loop.
