This durable ‘solo’ A-Frame is a smaller version of our A-Frame tent, made with our premium 220 GSM canvas which breaths nicely and has a water, mould and UV-resistant coating. Weighing less than 7.5 kg and only 70cm x 13 cm in its bag this is a great choice for a solo camper or for a kids pup tent – it’s an excellent alternative to bulky swags.
The tent has double doors (one at each end) made from canvas and a secondary mosquito netting door so there is plenty of ventilation options to keep the air flowing nicely on hot evenings. There is a pocket that is attached to the ridge pole and another sewn into the seam to you can keep your torch and valuables on hand.
Setting up the solo A frame is incredibly easy:
- Peg in the bucket groundsheet to the ground using pegs. The groundsheet is conveniently sewn directly into the tent.
- Attach two vertical aluminium poles to the central ridge pole. This combination provides excellent stability to the tent structure.
- Peg in the guy ropes and adjust the tensioners
That’s it! Your tent is now set up and ready for use. Take a moment to relax and enjoy a refreshing camp beverage.

This tent reminds me of my first tent, it was about the same size. Nothing else is the same though, this one has all the quality and fittings you expect from Homecamp. My grandchildren and their dog love this tent.
After years in a three hoop swag, (and only ever owning that swag because no one at the time offered an A Frame tent in this size), last week was the last straw. I’m too old to be fighting my way out of them in the middle of the night for the toilet breaks and have also found I’m getting a little claustrophobic as I get older. I needed a change in my set up.
I started researching A Frame tents and found the only offerings are either hybrid domes made from polyester, or A frames made from the same material.
Enter Homecamp. These guys are the only ones I could find who provide a canvas A Frame. I got it on special, which was handy as the special ended the following day, and quickly reached out to make sure it was in stock ready to go. Doron almost immediately replied (on a public holiday mind you) and I placed my order. Four working days later it’s set up in my living room for inspection, and this is what I’ve found.
Including unpacking it from the box, but not pegging it down, less than 2 minutes to set up. I’d add on a few more minutes to do the rest.
The canvas, the stitching, the fly and the zips are all of high quality. The guy ropes are too, and the tri slide guy rope tensioners are amazing. The tent pegs are strong, long and plentiful.
The poles are aluminium, including the spreader bar. I’m a little worried about the spreader bar but I’ll hit it with some weather before changing that out to see if it holds up. First instinct is it will, but with a little trepidation.
The floor tub is a perfect fit for my Wanderer tourer double mattress. I mean it’s like they were made for each other. The handy pockets for keys, phones and other bits are great.
Inside the tent there is plenty of room to sit up, the spreader pole offers a place to hang your light and it feels both breezy and cozy inside at the same time.
If I could point out one fault, it’s the way the fly zips. In this country (SE Qld), we really need our zips up to keep the snakes out, our pythons love a cozy human bed. Although they can get high up too if they want to, it just makes it harder for them to get in. I would suggest making the fly door a one piece triangle with a zip that goes all the way across the bottom then follows the roof line up.
This tent is miles above a swag, packed down takes up less room, is just as quick or quicker to set up, and at the price it is a great value, long lasting investment in camping gear.
